Becoming the character you play while at the same time having an actor’s awareness of the performance environment is a blended state of being that is the basis for most acting methods in use today. It requires a strong will, a childlike curiosity and a willingness to trust yourself and others. Sam Rush, director, actor and co-founder of the New Century Theater, leads this free workshop.

Three-Plate Monotype & Stitch Shibori

Two Printmaking Workshops with Maine Mixed-Media Artist & Printmaker Kris Sader

We're delighted to announce that the accomplished printmaker, mixed media and installation artist Kris Sader will offer two workshops this February, during her RLV guest artist residency.

  • 3-Plate Monotype: Saturday, Feb. 16, 10am–4pm at RLV studios.
This technique of monotype printing offers the opportunity of color mixing/interactions, and mark making that allows for luminosity of the paper to add excitement to the print. Download PDF to learn more.

  • Stitch Saburi (Japanese Tie-Dye): Saturday, Feb. 23, 10am–2.30pm at the Wilson Barn.
Shibori (to wring, squeeze, press/shaped resist dyeing) is the name for Japanese Tie-dye. By restricting cloth 3 dimensionally with folds, crinkling or stitching, beautiful flat designs can be achieved. The results will show the technique used but will always be unique to that work session. Download PDF to learn more
