Summer Artist Residency Award

Rancho Linda Vista (RLV) invites 2D, 3D and mixed/multimedia visual artists to apply for its one-month Summer Artist Residency Award. We welcome serious emerging artists* from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, who demonstrate originality in their work, a commitment to their practice, and engagement in a bigger conversation around art. An MFA is preferred, but not required.

The Summer Artist Residency Award offers a unique opportunity to create a body of work in an exquisite desert setting, among a community of creative peers. A furnished one-bedroom house, separate studio, and $1,000 stipend are included, as well as access to our swimming pool, library, and other shared spaces. There are also over 100 wilderness acres to explore and the occasional cultural event to enjoy. Artists provide their own tools and materials, necessities, and means of transportation. At the conclusion of their stay, they are invited to share their work in an open studio exhibit.

The artist selected for 2025 has the option of choosing either July or August for their residency. All applicants will be informed of the selection committee’s decision in/around the middle of May.

* As an emerging artist, you devote significant time, on a steady basis, to making art. You have a sizable, cohesive and evolving body of work and have exhibited in public spaces. This category does not cover artists in training or formation, or artists who have achieved substantial recognition. Both groups are welcome however to inquire about our regular guest artist program.

Guest House & Studio Rental
